VG Machines offers the automated solution for all line grain finishing applications. Changing abrasive belts with the pneumatic quick-release system is a snap! To give a final finish, we usually use a brush made of non-woven synthetic material. Also known as Scotch-brite. With this, we can give the steel parts a nice and tight line, grain finish.

Line, grain finishes are generally used to finish stainless steel or stainless steel, aluminium and other metals for aesthetic and optical purposes such as: household appliances, interiors, kitchen equipment, food processing, architecture …

Benefits of line finishing – brush effect

Line finishing is the most common finish for metal. The process serves to add a uniform surface finish to sheet metal parts. A line finish or a grain finish is achieved by means of a sanding belt or grinding belt, which creates a granular directional pattern. By giving your products a line finish, you can easily remove manufacturing defects such as scratches, oxide, mill scale and surface porosity. Welded parts can also be touched up with this satin finish to hide any discolouration of the welds and to harmonise the different grinding directions. We achieve the ideal brushed effect by building up the grinding steps. The higher the grit, the finer the result. Thus, your products can be provided with silky smooth finishes, edges and brushed surfaces. Another way to differentiate your products from the competition!
